1. Morib Beach

Whenever you think of beaches in Selangor, Morib Beach, also known as Pantai Morib, is one of the first ones that comes to mind. You might be surprised to know that this seaside attraction was one of the areas the British and Indian army landed on the west coast toward the end of World War II in 1945.

Pantai Morib is one of the most popular beaches in Malaysia, with palm trees and casuarinas dotted along the shoreline. Don't forget to check the tide schedule before heading to the beach. If you end up arriving during high tide, all you see are waves crashing against the promenade wall without any sign of the beach.

Despite not having fine white sand and shimmering blue waters, Morib Beach is an ideal destination as a family hangout spot during the weekends, where you can have a picnic at one of the many gazebos, try kite-flying, and play beach soccer.

If you're lucky, you might even spot clams and shellfish during low tide, as well as little crabs disappearing into the sand. You can even rent bikes and rollerblades to ride along the promenade and feel the breeze caress your skin.

Since there are many food stalls nearby, you don't have to go far to grab a bite. Remember to try the famous ikan bakar and other seafood dishes at the nearby food court, all freshly caught from the sea.

The area is equipped with clean toilets as well, making it convenient for beachgoers. Remember to check online before heading to Morib Beach as it is temporarily closed for now.

2. Bagan Lalang Beach

If you need a tranquil spot to clear your mind, come and soothe your soul at the shores of Bagan Lalang Beach! It is a gorgeous spot located close to Port Dickson and is conveniently situated an hour's drive from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, making it popular among families and campers over the weekend. Mangrove trees are lined up along the coastline, adding a unique charm to Bagan Lalang Beach's natural landscape.

Over the weekends, you'll see Bagan Lalang Beach packed with beachgoers flying kites, fishing, and kayaking in the waters. You'll find tables and benches located along the beach, where you can enjoy your picnic and watch the sun sink into the horizon for the day. Beware of the curious monkeys that roam the area as they might want your food as well.

The well-equipped facilities at Bagan Lalang Beach also vastly improve beachgoers' experience, ranging from a huge car park to paved walkways and well-maintained public toilets. Seafood lovers would enjoy hanging out at Bagan Lalang Beach since there are plenty of fish and seafood snacks sold at restaurants and stalls nearby that are open until late at night. Don't forget to try the renowned ikan bakar from the food courts!

If you'd like to extend your memorable weekend, consider visiting Tanjung Sepat, a charming fishing village located 20 minutes away.

3. Pantai Cunang

Located in Tanjung Sepat, Pantai Cunang is a charming beach with a coastline that extends for about 1.5km. It is the ideal destination if you're looking for a less crowded beach where you can relax and enjoy the tranquility, making Pantai Cunang one of the hidden gems in Selangor.

Pantai Cunang is maintained by Mah Meri, the orang asli community, who set up huts along the beach. Visitors can explore the area by strolling along the shore while admiring the picturesque views of the South China Sea and swaying casuarina trees.

You'll also spot the dense mangrove trees lined up along the beach, making for a rather spectacular view. Although the muddy waters aren't suitable for swimming, Pantai Cunang is a nice place to relax in the soft sand and watch the sunset.

Tanjung Sepat's Lover's Bridge is located near Pantai Cunang, where you can enjoy the picturesque coastal views or engage in birdwatching. While there aren't any food stalls located on Pantai Cunang, there are lots of seafood restaurants nearby that feature delicious local dishes.

4. Sasaran Beach

Sasaran Beach is where the famous Sky Mirror Tour takes place. When the sea recedes drastically for several days (1st and 15th day of the Lunar Calendar) per month, the crystal-clear waters appear to blend in with the bright blue sky. This creates a stunning mirror-like reflection, creating fantastic photography opportunities. Many even compare this phenomenon to Salar de Uyuni of Bolivia, the largest salt flat in Bolivia!

The only way to get to Sasaran Beach, which is more like a sandbar, is by booking a boat ride ahead of time. Upon arriving at Sasaran Beach, expect to see tons of locals and tourists around, all eager to check out the unique phenomenon. There are many sea creatures and shells scattered all over the ground as well, so be careful where you step! We recommend wearing colourful clothes so they'll reflect beautifully against the water.

Even without taking any photos, the serenity of the reflection will ease your worries about the strain of modern life. The seabed seems to stretch on forever, blending seamlessly with the horizon.

Since there's no shade at the seabed, remember to bring your sunscreen and a hat to combat the glaring sun rays. We also recommend bringing your favourite iced drink in the Montigo Knights Tumbler, so you can stay refreshed even in the middle of the sea.

5. Pantai Remis

Pantai Remis, also known as Remis Beach, is one of the must-visit beaches in Selangor that has become increasingly favoured for its well-equipped amenities and various activities available.

Not only can beachgoers enjoy flying kites in the sea breeze, but they can also sit by the food stalls and watch the birds hunting for food by the sea. There's a playground as well, which is perfect for children to run around and have some fun. Pantai Remis is a popular fishing spot, so expect lots of fresh seafood dishes and snacks available at the food stalls and restaurants nearby.

Since the beach has many rocks scattered across the sand, we recommend wearing slippers while strolling along the shore. It's not advisable to go swimming here since the waters can be rather murky. Of course, anyone can find tranquility by simply sitting on the sand and listening to the waves lap against the shore as the sun fades into the horizon.

6. Pantai Kelanang

Pantai Kelanang is one of the closest beaches located near Kuala Lumpur. While it may not look like it from pictures alone, it's actually a charming beach dotted with pine trees, which makes for great picnic spots and camping sites. The area is well-equipped with public toilets, expansive parking lots, food courts, and even a surau, ensuring a comfortable visit for anyone.

The strong breeze at the beach makes it ideal for flying your kites. Wild monkeys roam the beach as well, so be careful while enjoying your food and remember not to feed them.

While the murky waters aren't suitable for swimming, strolling on land as you enjoy the sunset is a fantastic way to unwind from the stress. Some locals enjoy catching crabs and digging for shellfish at Pantai Kelanang before hosting a barbecue on the beach at night.

7. Pantai Redang Sekinchan

When you think of Sekinchan, the sprawling paddy fields are the first thing that comes to mind. But did you know that Sekinchan also has its very own beach?

Pantai Redang Sekinchan, also known as Redang Sekinchan Beach and Redang Beach, is one of the nearest beaches to Kuala Lumpur. Since many fishermen's boats come and go in the area, no watersports are available at the beach.

Of course, there's plenty to do around Redang Beach. Thanks to the strong sea breeze, kite-flying is a popular activity on the beach. Many also go hunting for hermit crabs or content themselves with bird watching in the area. You can even settle down on the beach and have a picnic with your loved ones, soaking in the tranquil atmosphere as you watch stray dogs run along the beach.

If you've got some spare time, check out the Paddy Museum to learn more about rice production in Selangor and take a peek through some of the souvenir shops for exciting souvenirs at the rice factories.

The iconic Wishing Tree is a must-visit and is located near Pantai Redang Sekinchan. You can hardly miss the tree as it has thousands of red ribbons hanging from the branches. Locals believe your wishes will come true if you write your wishes on a red ribbon and throw it on the gigantic tree.
