ON THE HUNT FOR NEW CAFE DESTINATIONS? HERE’S SOME MUST-VISIT PLACES FOR YOU
1. Universal Bakehouse
Don’t be fooled by the cafe’s signage which gives off an old, coffee shop vibe because when met with the café interior, its sleek design which screams modern and minimal will make you question its history.
If you did, question no more as we have your answer! Previously, the lot was called ‘Kedai Dobi Universal’ as it was owned by an elderly laundromat who was retiring.

Upon hearing this, the now laundry-turned-café managing partners, Marcus and Asya decided to carry the previous owners’ legacy while making new memories for themselves through simple, comforting, and memorable baked goods!
With that said, in October 2019, blending the old with the new without taking away much of its history, this artisanal, approachable, and accessible cafe came to life.

At Universal Bakehouse, they firmly commit to delivering classic and quality baked goods that are timeless in spite of trends that appear overtime. Some of their must-haves include cinnamon rolls and doughnuts, but ensure you do NOT miss out on trying their crusty sourdough loaves (which is what they’re renowned for), or their other range of interesting bakes!

2. Wú Coffee Gallery
Wú translates as the void, an empty state where ideas and light could shine. This could be what the designers of Wú Coffee Gallery wanted the cafe’s walls to tell.

Constructed by Mobius Academy’s founders, the interior of Wú Coffee Gallery is filled with hues of gray and texture of stone to emanate a simple, cool, and pleasing aesthetic throughout. Perhaps this creation can help one de-stressed, or simply focus as their surroundings are minimal. Thus, this brings in creativity which equates to the light of ideas.

This cafe mostly serves a Japanese-inspired menu, with their popular choice being Chashu Mazesoba. This can come as a classic, spicy, dry ramen, soup ramen, donburi, or even with a few side dishes if preferred.
